Track Tuesday! 🏃🏼‍♀️💨 Oh what a night. Wasn’t feeling my best 🙈 Thankfully with Cleveland half this weekend, tonight was an easier effort run. I failed in my preparation today. It rained all day and I was just out of sorts. I didn’t roll, and didn’t hydrate very well. It happens..... I knew in my first mile repeat, I just wasn’t feeling it. 3 x 1 mile at 6:11 ave, then 4 x 400m at 5:33 ave. I hit my goal paces, but it should have felt way easier. Anyway we got lucky with the weather, NO RAIN!! It was muggy, but really perfect because the sun was non existent!! ☁️ ⛅️ 8 years ago I ran the Cleveland marathon, I’m really excited to go back even if I’m just doing the half. (I’m glad because it’s going to be warm! 👍🏼)It will surely be a fun weekend! I have a field trip with Amber to Universal on Friday, then hopping on a plane to Cleveland Saturday morning! In Cleveland I’ll be catching up with some old friends and going to the NBA playoff game the night before the half!! Woo hoo! A smile in the midst of the pouring rain at the #PopularBKHalf 😊❤️ Race recap: it was tough. We were soaked and cold before even starting the race. I ran a 1:51, so definitely not a PR, but given the circumstances I am so proud!! NYC I WILL be back for more redemption!!! SUNDAY: Ran the @harpoonbrewery 5 miler at a comfortable & easy pace at just above 8 min/mile. The race was so fun and flew by, and got to try the new UFO blueberry lemonade at the finish 😍 What a fun weekend full of the activity I love and the people I love!! 📌 Blessure : comment faire face et rebondir ? —- Faire face à une blessure nécessite à la fois une résilience physique ET psychologique. Lorsque qu’un sportif se retrouve brutalement sur le banc de touche, il doit faire face à plusieurs émotions : le déni, la colère, la tristesse voire même la dépression. 🤕 (TMTC n’est-ce pas ?!) —- Comment aller au-delà du négatif, positiver pour finalement revenir plus fort ? 💪🏼 —- Lorsque j’ai pris la décision de me faire opérer du genou, j’ai dû dire adieu à ma saison de triathlon et à mon premier half-ironman. A la place, j’ai signé pour une longue rééducation qui prendra jusqu’à 1 an pour revenir à ma condition physique initiale. 😵 —- Dans mon nouvel article (lien dans la bio), je te propose quelques « stratégies » qui m’ont permis de garder le moral et qui m’aident au quotidien dans ma rééducation. —- En bref : 1️⃣Comprendre sa blessure et l’accepter 2️⃣ Revoir ses objectifs et être patient(e) 3️⃣ Positiver et varier ses activités 4️⃣ Trouver du soutien et parler ! 5️⃣ Maintenir sa forme physique 6️⃣ Avoir des projets —- « Quand on ne peut revenir en arrière, on ne doit se préoccuper que de la meilleure manière d’aller de l’avant. » Paolo Coelho —- Une blessure est toujours une étape difficile dans la vie d’un(e) sportif(ve) mais il ne tient qu’à toi d’en tirer le meilleur malgré tout ! Prend les choses en main, entraîne toi dur, soit patient(e) et persévère ! 🔥 —- Personnellement, je n’ai jamais autant appris sur moi-même et mon corps en une opération et seulement 3 mois de rééducation. It was a good weekend. Ran my first marathon and got 2nd in 2:25:29 at the Pocono’s Marathon. Then got to visit heaven (Mother’s Cupboard) and show Julia Syracuse. Thanks to Julia, Jill and Jill’s mom for driving around the Pocono’s cheering me on. I’ve started my next training block, with some big goals for the fall!! While I’m logging miles, though, I want to focus on something bigger than myself. As such, @ani_weiss and I are working in tandem with @runnersheal which we learned about while visiting Kenya. There will be much more information coming soon, but the short version is they sell shirts like the one pictured here, and the money from the shirts go to buy meals for school children in Kenya. We are extremely excited to be part of this mission! It was a HOT HOT HOT #StridersTWW! 6 x 400m with 200m walking recoveries. The recovery was NOT included in my time. Usually I jog the recoveries but today my body just said no. So I pulled back and relaxed.

Learn more about Jodie below. —————————————— I STARTED SWIMMING FOR MY LOCAL CLUB OLDBURY SWIMMING CLUB WHEN I WAS JUST 4 YEARS OLD. IT WAS HERE WHERE MY DAD – IAN – TAUGHT ME HOW TO SWIM MY FIRST WIDTH! From that day on it was clear that sport was for me, as I would love winning from an early age. I even loved swimming up an age group to be racing with and against the older girls. My uncle Derek (who when I was younger I called Auntie Derek) first introduced me to the sport of triathlon when I was just 8 years old. It didn’t take long for him and my dad to realise I had potential. My training at that age was mainly on a Tuesday evening where I remember cycling around Langley Leisure Centre several times, then straight into the pool for 2 hours swim training, before finally running home with my dad. Quite an intense training day for an 8 year old! I was entered into the Milk Series, which was held at Appleby, near to the Lake District, when I was 9 years old and ended up winning my first triathlon. At this age I wasn’t too worried about whether my glasses were taped to my helmet or my equipment was in the correct place, all I wanted to do was make my dad proud (naturally the competitor in me came out even at 9 years old!) In case you hadn’t heard.... last night marked the start of the next 19 weeks of my life leading up to the scariest thing I’ve ever done- (try to) run the 2018 Chicago Marathon for team @luriechildrens. This choice was inspired by a 7 yr old that the world lost too soon, and was solidified by the hundreds of other kids I’ve met along the way that have motivated me and pushed me to do more. If they can run a marathon fighting for their lives every day, then I can run one once for them. I have been privileged to know so many remarkable and strong kids and families through Lurie Children’s, so I am lucky to dedicate each mile to a different family who has impacted me along the way. Running really far does not change outcomes for these kids BUT- money can. So, in hopes of actually making an impact on these kids lives and thousands of others after them in the future, I will be raising $1,000 per family. 26.2 miles. 26 families. $26,200 to raise. -Wednesday- Dismal rain 🌧 all day, pushed us out of outside work, then it finally let up and a couple of minutes of sunshine ☀️ broke through. What a day. The track can be a beautiful thing. Three mile warm up, 16 x 400m repeats with one minute rest, a jog lap every forth, and one mile cool down. All 90 sec or less. Sometimes it feels so good to push yourself, to believe in yourself, and to find strengths you where not aware of. Was a beautiful day to do laps and feel the rain/sun combo.
